To honor the education officers in best leadership category and the teacher’s multimedia content creator, nationally a closing Ceremony of ‘Teacher’s Conference – 2017’ was held on 21 December 2017, by the joint initiative of Access to Information (a2i) Programme of Prime Minister’s Office; Ministry of Education and Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP honorable Minister of Ministry of Education was the Chief Guest in this occasion and inaugurated this program through teleconference. Mohammad Asif-uz-Zaman, Secretary of Primary and Mass Education Ministry attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Md. Abdur Rouf Chowdhury, Director of Primary Education Director (Training) and Jasim Uddin, Project Director, ICT-II, under the Department of Secondary and Higher Education and Mohammad Ali Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar were present as the special guest.
The main objective of two-days ‘Teachers Conference-2007’ was to motivate teachers at the field level through recognition of their work in order to strengthen the use of ICT to achieve quality education through creation of multimedia content. a2i programme has organized “Multimedia Content Competition” with the help of Government Teachers Training Colleges, which has selected the best teachers in different category at across the country. About 200 teachers, 100 education officers and winners of Multimedia Content Competition including the best multimedia content creator of the week selected in Teachers’ Portal were received crests and certificates in different categories.
Out of the 300, 10 people nominated at the national level across the country were given laptops and 25 others were given smartphones. Based on the quality of leadership in education, crest and certificates were given to 82 teachers including Principals of High School and Primary School, Teachers Training College Principal, PTI Inspector, PTI Superintendent, URC Instructor, District Education Officer, in different categories. A crest and a certificate were issued to about 138 teachers, including the best multimedia content creator of the week. It is mentioned that, multimedia classrooms have been set up in more than 23,330 secondary schools and madrasas and 8,925 primary schools across the country, under the Ministry of Education and Primary and Mass Education Ministry with the technical assistance from a2i. Online platform ‘Teacher’s Portal’ has been created to ensure professional development of all teachers.
ICT for education (ICT4E) ambassador has been selected in every district, to enrich ICT initiatives in education. On the other hand, e-learning platform has created for the development of the skills of any person including the teacher. a2i Programme is working to develop the largest e-learning platform in Bangla with government and private partners with the slogan ‘Learn where and whenever you want’.
Among others, Professor Faruque Ahmed, e-Learning Specialist of a2i Programme; Afzal Hossain Sarwar Policy Specialist (Educational Innovation)of a2i Programme and Senior Officials from Ministry of Education; Primary and Mass Education Ministry; a2i Programme and media representatives were present in this ceremony.
