An Inauguration Ceremony of ‘Teacher’s Conference – 2017’ was held at the Cultural Center, Cox-Bazar by the joint initiative of Access to Information (a2i) Programme of Prime Minister’s Office; Ministry of Education and Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP honorable Minister of Ministry of Education was the Chief Guest in this occasion and inaugurated this program through teleconference. Md. Mohiuddin Khan, Additional Secretary of Education Ministry. GM Hasibul Alam, Additional Secretary of Primary and Mass Education Ministry; Mohammad Ali Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar; Ms Jonghwi Park, Programme Specialist in ICT in Education, Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok) were present as panel discusser. Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor of a2i Programme, was chaired the program.
a2i program organized “Multimedia Content Competition” in collaboration with Government Teachers Training Colleges, by which the best teacher in different levels of the country has elected. Like previous, the conference has organized for the recognition of teachers works in this year. About 300 teachers and winners of the multimedia content competition and educators were present the program, including the best multimedia content creator. Through selection from all over the country, today laptops have been provided to the first 15 people nominated at the national level in Multimedia Content Competition 2017. The remaining 20 people have been given smartphones.
This conference will create opportunity to add new levels of professionalism to the teachers through exchange their experiences and perceptions of the schools and classrooms with other teachers and policymakers. The seminars during the conference will focus on 4 different themes: “Future Education: Global Perspective and Bangladesh”; “Teachers’ Journey as Change Makers”; “Leadership in Education” and “SDG4: Quality Education-Roles and Responsibilities of the Teachers”.
It is mentioned that, multimedia classrooms have been set up in more than 23,330 secondary schools and madrasas and 8,925 primary schools across the country, under the Ministry of Education and Primary and Mass Education Ministry with the technical assistance from a2i. Online platform ‘Teacher’s Portal’ has been created to ensure professional development of all teachers. More than 270,000 teachers have uploaded and downloaded their multimedia content in this portal and sharing their thoughts and opinions through blogs and comments.
ICT for education (ICT4E) ambassador has been selected in every district, to enrich ICT initiatives in education. Apart from, emphasizing the safe and effective use of ICT in secondary and higher secondary level students, online platform “Kishore Konnect” has been created for the students by the joint initiative of a2i and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. On the other hand, e-learning platform has created for the development of the skills of any person including the teacher. a2i Programme is working to develop the largest e-learning platform in Bangla with government and private partners with the slogan ‘Learn where and whenever you want’.
